The new season is upon us and with it comes new trends in style! Of course, I am excited, however, I do not always follow the latest trend or purchase everything recommended in a particular season.
This year, fringe is happening, but I already own a cool fringe top and boots. I I will readjust what I have in my closet and purchase anything new from a fast fashion site for less than $20 dollars.
In addition, this season, all over runways and in stores like Zara, color is everywhere, but there are millions of black women, especially those across the African diaspora, where color is everyday life. The pantone wheel does not need to spin because to be African and without colorful fashion is an entire faux pas in and of itself. I can assume a small smirk at the fact that the rest of the world is catching on to color!
Also, this season, Aztec prints are alive and well, mod style clothing looks from the 60’s in florals and swirl patters are buzzing—I do plan to highlight these styles, though, most will be thrifted.
